Art! For Monkees sake

Lets play, Who can climb down a ladder the most awkwardly!
Ok, lets actually analyse this. Mike doesn't seem to have any sort of method to his climbing. He sort of grabbed the ladder, threw himself down and ended up with a leg hooked over one of the rungs. If you see the rest, he ends up, bum facing the camera full on (which is nice for us) with his legs higher than his head. If Davy had not been there already to help him down, he would have fallen straight on his face.
For Peter, he had an... interesting way of getting down but, there is some method to his madness. While he may be putting himself in danger of falling flat on his face (something none of us want for such an adorable guy) having his legs hooked, his body flipped, he easily can bring his legs down if he held the rungs tight with his hands. In fact, that's what he did, so, while it was awkward, it worked, maybe better than Mike.
Micky, now Micky seems to have it all worked out. It may not be the conventional way to climb down a ladder but it could possibly be a quicker way, had he not had Peter blocking his way. By lowering himself, legs steadying and arms doing all the work, he would've quite easily swung his legs down at the end and touched the floor, again, if Peter had not been in the way.

So Mike, I think, wins the 'Most awkward way to get down a ladder' award, Micky winning the most logical- out of the Monkees. Davy isn't included because we didn't see him climb down it and also, knowing him, he probably did it the conventional way so not to damage his (gorgeous) face. He would not have put that in brackets.

Problems

I really can't think of who to pair in Star Trek with Peter.
I just don't know. While this is a good excuse for me to go back and watch the whole of the original series but this one will have to wait. I'm so sorry Peter :(
We all still love you xx
On a sunnier (girlfriend) note (that really was a terrible excuse to put in a Monkees song title) One of my friends put on some Monkees songs because he didn't know who they were or any of their songs(!) While he wasn't really into them, we had a little crowd going of people who recognized I'm a Believer and Daydream Believer. We had such fun. It's nice to think that even years later, a band who didn't even play their own instruments in their songs at the start are still known today. I think that's a win for the Monkees!

Star Trek/Monkees

And here's today's Star Trek/Monkees pairing.

James T Kirk/Micky Dolenz
So, I dunno why really but both me and my sister did sat we liked this pairing. Maybe its Micky's sort of geeky...ness in the series that would love space and all the future technology and I think Kirk would be only too happy to show him everything. I also think Micky would be quite happily swept away by Kirk's charm- The Chaperone is proof that he might.

Oh, by the way, a lot of the pairings, fanfiction and stuff like that, I am talking about the 'character' of the Monkees. Not the real musicians, the characters in the tv show because that's just what I prefer to do. I don't want to talk so much about the actual people because I don't want to offend them (not that they'll read it) or paint them in a bad light by accident. Still, I'll do Peter's pairing tomorrow, see ya!

Star Trek/Monkees

Here's the next one for today, A star trek/monkees pairing:

Davy/Chekov OR Davy/Sulu

So, again, NP did this first one but it only seems right when Chekov was actually modeled after the singer. His 'Davy Jones' wig, his cute little face, Chekov was even short meaning they could both reach each other's lips easily. They're both so cute and this pairing would really work...

...But, if Davy was Chekov, I think Sulu would be the best fit. I subscribe to the adorable pairing of Chulu (Sulu/Chekov) so these two just seem to work. Davy would be the cheesy, charming one and Sulu, cool and sweet one. Next one tomorrow!

wikipedia is my inspiration

I was reading about the songs on Headquarters on Wikipedia, when I came across this about The Girl I knew Somewhere:

'a complex harpsichord piece was added when Peter accidentally played the harpsichord during a rehearsal and the note that came out blended with the song to the enthusiastic satisfaction of Mike.'

Why do I love this so much? Well, for a start, I love the Harpsicord piece in this song, I even tried to learn it (as you all know) and its nice to know how it came to be but also, the ENTHUSIASTIC SATISFACTION of MIKE! I have no idea why this sentence has now become the focus of my next fan fiction but I believe we have that to blame. And its such a cute way to put it. I could imagine Mike being so enthusiastic about the song, so passionate and all because of Peter.
Torksmith, such a cute pairing!

Star Trek/Monkees

So, I know NP did this but I think it would be cool to match the Monkees with the characters in Star Trek.
They are, after all, two of my favourite TV shows (next to Sherlock)

(Yes, I know NP did this pairing) Mike/Spock OR Mike/McCoy

While I adore the idea of Mike, a rather gorgeous, handsome young man with the oddly sexy, smart Vulcan, Spock, partly because they won me over with their brains and they are my favourite characters in each of their shows, I also think that their relationship would be one full of intellectual conversations, playing music together (Both their voices singing along to a Vulcan lyre and 12 string grestch... I want to see that!) and a sweet sort of love. Vulcans seem to be quite protective over their mates and I think Mike might be cool with that.

But I think, Mike and McCoy would be quite a funny relationship. Look at them. They both are grumpy, they both have a sort of sarcastic sense of humor, they both have rather nice accents. I really love both their accents. It would be pretty cool with these two, just to be a little bit different.
(also, my sister would LOVE this pairing. She fancies these too more than anyone else)

I'll do the rest tomorrow. It gives me a chance to think about it (so its not exactly like NP although their's was quite good) and keeps you lot waiting :) Not that there is so many of you out there that care ;)

Head

Can we talk about this movie please.
Head, a movie starring the Monkees, is so damn weird.
But I can understand why it got a cult following. It's kind of cool how its just a load of random, plotless stories and there is a couple of memorable bits but, if you're not into the whole LSD trip like experience (which I am not) It makes for a very strange viewing.
I do like the first bit were they all get a chance to kiss that girl- apologies for the vagueness of this though, I haven't looked into it much- and the WAR chant thing because, as I explained to my sister who found the whole film confusing, it explains that there is no story or plot. Mike even says:

'for those who look for meaning
or form as they do fact
We might tell you one thing
but we'd only take it back'

Basically, there's no point looking for some sort of deeper meaning to the movie. There isn't one.
Still, I leave you with the dreamy moment where you see all the Monkees kiss that girl (and Mike asks her to come back. I mean, who wouldn't?!)
Oh, and maybe the chant. Its pretty good.
