Head, a movie starring the Monkees, is so damn weird.
But I can understand why it got a cult following. It's kind of cool how its just a load of random, plotless stories and there is a couple of memorable bits but, if you're not into the whole LSD trip like experience (which I am not) It makes for a very strange viewing.
I do like the first bit were they all get a chance to kiss that girl- apologies for the vagueness of this though, I haven't looked into it much- and the WAR chant thing because, as I explained to my sister who found the whole film confusing, it explains that there is no story or plot. Mike even says:
'for those who look for meaning
or form as they do fact
We might tell you one thing
but we'd only take it back'
Basically, there's no point looking for some sort of deeper meaning to the movie. There isn't one.
Still, I leave you with the dreamy moment where you see all the Monkees kiss that girl (and Mike asks her to come back. I mean, who wouldn't?!)
Oh, and maybe the chant. Its pretty good.
