NP presents, Monkee questions

NP posted some Monkee questions and my sister and I loved answering them. Here's my answers, think about you own because some of them are cruel with how difficult they are.
1: Favorite Monkee?
Well, that's not fair for a start but Mike Nesmith. (sorry to all the others, they all are close seconds)

2: Least Favorite Monkee?
Nope, none of them. There's aspects of each of them that I dislike but I don't have a least favourite. Like I said in the last question, Mike may be my 'favourite' but even that is pushing it.

3: Favorite Monkee song?
The Girl That I Knew Somewhere. I've said before in posts why I love it. It's just one of the best.

4: Head or 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee?
Head! All the way. I was very skeptical of it at first but it's really not so bad. (And the boys look hot, added bonus)

5: Favorite song sung by Mike?
Hmmm, What Am I Doing Hanging 'Round. It's just my song.

6: Favorite song sung by Peter?
I Don't Think You Know Me. I know it wasn't originally sung by him but his is my favourite version.

7: Favorite song sung by Davy?
So damn difficult when I just got into Star Collector... and there is I Can't Get Her Off Of My Mind... but Daydream Believer is a classic. It wins first place of Davy songs, I think.

8: Favorite song sung by Micky?
The Girl That I Knew Somewhere although there are sooo many to choose from.

9: Favorite Monkees Episode?
Fairy Tale or one of the first I ever saw, Too Many Girls

10: Least favorite Monkees Episode?
There are a few that I miss out when scrolling through them as ones I'll probably only watch once in a blue moon but... The Monkees Race again. It was just quite a slow episode as I remember but its one that I've only watched once.

11: Favorite line from the TV show?
There is far too many to choose... probably the line that gets me every time, as in on the floor laughing would be 'Well papa bear kinda wanted me to hang around' from Fairy Tale. Cracks me up. (But the cutest line is 'I want to say here where its safe, with you Michael.' in The Monstrous Monkee Mash said by Peter, makes me melt!)

12: Which Monkee would you marry?
Well, this is a difficult one but, without an explanation, Micky Dolenz.

13: Which Monkee could you not stand to live with?
... Peter with his organizing 'naked parties' to put it in a mild manor. But I would also imagine Mike was very difficult to live with too. They all probably were.

14: Favorite Monkees 80s song?
I'll be honest, I don't know any...

15: Favorite solo song?
Again, not my strong suit when it comes to Monkee songs...

16: Favorite Monkees costume from the TV show?
Black double button shirts with the tight grey pants. No doubt.

17: Favorite wool hat that Mike wore?
Probably the plain green one mostly worn in the first series.

18: Which Monkee would you take to prom?
Mike Nesmith, just 'cause

19: Which Monkee do you think is cutest
Peter!

20: Which Monkee do you think is ugliest?
None of them again. I like the way they all look. I'm always into unconventionally good-looking men, usually because it's their intelligence that I find the most attractive and their ability to make me laugh.

Listen to the Band!

Hello all you out there!
I'm in a good mood, can you tell?
It's almost the new year and I have some time to spend talking about my favourite Monkees songs. I mean, why not? I go on about the TV show, the episodes and mention some of my beloved records, I talk about the guys and pairings but I haven't really talked about, if I had to choose, what my top 5 favourite songs that they sung would be. And this is difficult, trust me. They won't in an order because making me rate them, just so unfair!
I'll try not to make this so texty.

No 5: What am I doing hanging 'round
Oh I love this song. It wasn't one of the first I heard, in fact, I already was dipping my toe into the pool of my Monkees obsession when my dad said we- my sister and I- might like it. At first, it sounded strange because it was quite country sounding and not like some of the other songs we'd heard but I kept hoping that, instead of skipping it to the songs we know, we might accidentally leave it on again. Ever since, whenever it comes on, I can't help but squeal (fangirl alert) It's just my song, now. And Mike's voice... its so... Mike!

No 4: I'm a Believer
Yes, this song was never going to be left behind. One of the first songs I ever associated with The Monkees, despite not really knowing them and yes, I first hear the Smash Mouth version in Shrek. It's a song that brings back a lot of memories like my dad playing his guitar and my sister and I singing along. It might actually be one of the first songs I knew off by heart. I think it really captures what the Monkees were; a band made for fun. That's what the TV show was all about at least. So, yeah, this iconic Monkees song gets me, and pretty much anyone singing along. Its one of my many happy songs.

No 3: Sunny Girlfriend
Another Mike vocal song but this one, with its upbeat sound, lyrics that match the atmosphere it gives of, I adore this song. My dad, sister and I have a joke about the start that I'm sure none of you would understand due to our stupid humor but every time it comes on, we're in hysterics while trying to sing along. These are really all my happy songs, each one on this list so keep that in mind. The thing that I like in music is fun aspects. The ability to sing along, dance or just to listen to it so to lift my spirits and this song, like all of them on this list, tick those boxes.

No 2: Sweet Young Thing
So, my sister deleted what I said before. Basically, she likes Papa Gene's Blues more than this song so she got upset. While I do like Papa Gene's Blues, Sweet Young thing beats it off the list because this is a top 5 and I have to narrow things down. If I'm listening to the Monkees on my phone, this is the song I always put on first and mostly because I love it and the songs after are also some of my favourites. When listening to Meet The Monkees, this is the song I'm waiting for. That's why it's here, because I really just like it. OK?

No 1: The Girl That I Knew Somewhere
It's the lyrics, the Micky Vocals, the harpsichord solo and beginning that get me in this song. It's personally my favourite that Mike wrote, favourite that Micky has sung and everything in this version of it just makes it one of the best in my opinion. I don't think the Mike vocal has everything that this one has and it's less flowing with a more prominent harpsichord. Maybe it's just me, my sister and my dad who prefers this version but to us, it'll always be the song we agree on as to which is one of the best.

Happy Birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday to our Capricorns!
Let me tell you all a special story:
73 years ago today, a boy was born called Robert Michael Nesmith
70 years ago today, another boy was born called David Thomas Jones.
Little did the mothers of these two Capricorns know that they'd one day meet, become TV stars on what began as a small TV show, become famous musicians and be loved and celebrated decades later. Yes, they met some hard times, everyone does in their lives. They had people say that they weren't a real band, they couldn't play their own instruments and that they were only manufactured with no talent themselves. However, while this stigma still exists, there are many who couldn't care less about their origins or the fact that, in the TV show, they didn't play. Their music is fun, it brings a lot of people joy. So today is not just celebrating the birth of two boys, but a day that somehow led to them meeting each other and two other great guys, them becoming friends while they also became loved all the way around the world.
The thing that is heartbreaking, though; One of our Capricorns is no longer on this earth. We miss you so much Davy. I hope you know that you will always be remembered, loved and missed.
But on a happier note, Happy Birthday again, Jonesmith, we love you both.
And to Torklenz, we love you too! I couldn't leave you out just because it's the other two's birthday.

Best episodes?

Well here's another best episode post and today's episode is, Monkees at the Movies
I like this episode because of many reasons but the topless Monkees in the Little Bit Me, Little Bit You sequence is a really seller.
The plot is; a famous (and pretty crap) movie director decides to put the Monkees in his next movie alongside an arrogant star, Frankie Catalina. They decide when Davy accidentally upstages him and they all get fired, to get rid of Frankie, and it works. After that, Davy becomes the Star. As you can tell, none of it all goes swimmingly. It is quite a funny episode but, trust me, is worth a watch just to see all four of their chests, legs and bodies. Sorry but it's true!

Hey hey!

So, if the Monkees were in a family, rather than friends in a band, who would be the mum, the dad and the kids? For me, here's where I would put them.

Well Micky, for a start, would most certainly be the mother. Looking the best in drag by far, he also can act really feminine - the Chaperone, can I point you to yet again. Also, he has this feel like he always wants to make people happy, mostly his friends. If he was a mother, you could expect that to translate into pretty protective and loving towards his(or her) kids.

Mike would surly be the dad, wouldn't you say? He was the first (in real life) to have kids, he is the leader of the group in the TV show. I just think it fits.
And the kids, well: Peter and Davy have to be. Peter because of his adorable... ness, Davy partly because how short he is. They'd be quite funny as brothers as well as looking up to their dad, just like they do in the TV show when they all look up to Mike, even Micky does.

So that's the family. What do you lot think?
see ya all soon
