So, as I said, I have been away and all I've listened to, music-wise, is the Monkees and a few posts ago, I showed you lot the presents that my dad brought me; all their albums so how about I put them into order of my favourites?
1: Meet the Monkees
Their first album has to be my favourite. I know all of the songs on it, I only skip two (shame on me) and all the songs on it are so much fun. So what if, at the time, they didn't play their own music? Nobody cared except for music snobs and teens these days who've only heard I'm a believer because of Shrek. And by the way DAD, I don't care if Mike didn't play his guitar at the start (although, I'm pretty sure he could.)
2: Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones LTD.
So, I'm actually writing this while listening to this album. Some of their best songs like Pleasant Valley Sunday, The door into summer and What am I Doing Hanging 'round (Personal favourites) feature on this album and I can't help screaming every time What am I Doing Hanging 'round comes on. These songs make me so happy, hence why it's second on this list.
3: Headquarters
Famous for having the Monkees playing their own instruments and their own music, I love this one too. It's really difficult to choose, however, which should take this place, More of the Monkees or Headquarters. But Headquarters has to take it. I guess its because of the epic songs on it, the fact that we hear Mike more vocally and because its all them (apart from those acting under their supervision)
Also, I love No Time! Such a fun song
4: More of the Monkees
'She' may not be one of their best songs (personal opinion) but I never skip it (or at least, rarely)
Most of the other songs on this album, I really like. It's a bit like my reason for putting Meet the Monkees first, except, there are more songs I don't like on this one than on the first (Auntie Grizelda, I'm looking at you)
Still, I'm a Believer always lifts my spirits.
5: The birds, the bees and the Monkees
Unfortunately, this is one that I dislike, not mostly because of the songs but I only know three of them. The others I've heard haven't exactly stuck in my head like those on other albums.
So there are the Monkees albums in order of my favourites.
Thanks for reading
